WhatsApp has been reportedly working on a new feature for Android users that will allow them to communicate easily if the calls go unanswered. According to WaBetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.23.21 update, available on the Google Play Store, allows some users to record a voice message directly if the receiver misses a call.
The new feature works much like the traditional voicemail. If someone does not pick up a call, the users will get to see a prompt at the bottom of the call interface, allowing them to instantly record and send a short voice message. It will also be available in the chat where the missed call occurs, offering a quick and context-aware way to respond without needing to schedule another call or type a text.
Once the caller sends the recorded voice message, it will appear within the conversation so the recipient can listen to it at their convenience, while the missed call notification still remains. This will ensure both the call attempt and the follow-up messages are showcased to the receiver.
The Meta-owned instant messaging platform has previously introduced a notification reminder tool for missed calls, and this new feature adds another way for users to stay in touch without losing important context.

It must be noted that the voicemail-like feature is currently available to only select beta testers. However, the exact rollout timeline remains under wraps. We expect that the feature may roll out in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, WhatsApp is also adding partial text selection in messages for iOS users. The new beta version has introduced clearer separation between single-message forwarding and multi-message selection. This feature will help retain bulk management options, making chat navigation faster.
