WhatsApp has been working on new features to improve the user experience. In the latest update, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is now expanding the feature to iOS users. With the new iOS 25.1.10.73 update, now available on TestFlight, users can add music to their status updates. Recently, the feature was available to the select Android beta testers which allowed them to browse a music catalog provided by Meta, including popular tracks from Instagram’s music library.
This means that iOS users can now use the same feature with the new collaboration with the Universal Music Group, which provides access to a wide range of tracks. WhatsApp users can now browse and select music to enhance their WhatsApp Status by featuring both photos and videos. When adding music to a photo, it automatically turns into a 15-second video, while the music length for video status updates is limited to the duration of the video itself.
Users can search for particular songs or artists using the music feature, which is accessible straight from the drawing editor. To stream the music catalog, users must have an active Internet connection; if they try to add music without one, they will receive an error message.

A personalized touch is added when music is incorporated into status updates, enabling users to share moments with a soundtrack that expresses their mood. This also improves interactivity by letting contacts interact with the update and find new music by connecting Instagram profiles within WhatsApp.
After Instagram stories, WhatsApp is expected to offer music features in the coming weeks. However, the tech giant has not confirmed the exact rollout timeline of the feature. Currently, the feature is available for select Android and iOS testers.
