WhatsApp’s liquid design has been making headlines for some time, and a new report confirms that more iPhone users, including those who use WhatsApp Business, are receiving this user interface. The change, inspired by Apple’s iOS 26, aims to introduce a more modern and layered interface based on translucency and depth effects.
The update is rolling out with the most recent iOS versions of the app and brings a new look that aligns both WhatsApp Messenger and Business. The interface was initially limited to a small group of users, but it is now being rolled out to more devices in stages.
The new Liquid Glass interface features a redesigned tab bar that floats above the screen in a semi-transparent finish. This subtle layering effect now allows background elements to show through, creating depth and dynamically adapting to the content beneath it. The change is especially noticeable when switching between tabs.

WhatsApp has also updated its interactive elements, such as buttons and context menus. These now have a frosted, glass-like appearance with smooth animations, providing a more refined and responsive user experience. The visual refresh also extends to the keyboard, which now has a softer, translucent design that is consistent with the overall system aesthetic.
Even after a wider rollout, the feature is still in development, with some parts of the app already using the new design language and others expected to follow in future updates.
According to reports, additional elements, such as the voice note player, may also get the Liquid Glass in the future. For the time being, the feature is gradually becoming available via the most recent App Store updates, though not all users will see it right away.
