HIGHLIGHTS

Shazam has launched its Windows Phone 8 Version after launching the new iPad app last week.

The popular song recognition app Shazam has been launched for Windows Phone 8 for free. The Windows Phone 8 version was rolled out in April but has now been launched officially with new features. A user can recognize a song with the help of the app and then also purchase the song from Xbox Music or from Nokia Music (if the device in question is a Nokia Windows Phone handset).

Shazam is already available on Android, Blackberry and the iPhone. The Shazam App for Windows Phone 8 will also allow users to get content related to TV shows, interactive content, exclusive offers and ads of interest. The app also allows access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It also has YouTube integration though there are no details on support for third-party streaming apps.

On Windows Phone 8, Shazam also has a Live Tile that allows users to view songs, get lyrics, check biographies and get music reviews. A user can add the Shazam tagging button on the homescreen of the Windows Phone 8 device and tag a song without going to the app itself. Users can also check local tags every 30 minutes and learn what their friends or people around them are listening to.
