We previously reported that Meta is working on a new Snapchat-like app that will allow users to send disappearing images to their friends. Now, the company has listed the app on the Google Play Store, but it clearly states that it is not available in India. Meta wants to make casual, real-time sharing easier and more private. The app is based on the platform’s Shots feature, but it is designed as a dedicated experience for quick, disappearing content.
According to the Play Store listing, Instants allows users to capture and share photos or short videos that automatically disappear after 24 hours, putting it in direct competition with apps such as Snapchat and Be Real. The aim is to encourage spontaneous sharing without the pressure of curated posts that typically appear on the main Instagram feed. This means that there might be no option to upload or share from your camera role.
“Introducing Instants, an app from Instagram. Share disappearing photos with friends. Connect with your favorite people over life’s little moments. Real life, real quick. Get straight to the camera to share with friends, fast. No edits, share instantly,” the description of the app stated.

The app also allows for optional Instagram syncing, which means that Instants content can appear on a user’s primary account. Reactions to posts and a dedicated Memories section allow users to revisit previously shared media.
Instants is currently being tested in a few markets, with Android and iOS versions available in only Spain and Italy. The app is expected to launch in India next month. However, it has not been confirmed yet and there is currently no official listing in India.
