Instagram updates to support iOS 6, iPhone 5

Updated on 26-Sep-2012

After the launch of the iPhone 5 and iOS 6, a lot of apps have been updated to support the two. Recently, Google Chrome was updated to support the latest iPhone and iOS. The latest to join that list with its own update is Instagram, the  popular free photo-sharing program and social network.

Instagram version 3.1 is available in the App Store!” the photo sharing app wrote in a tweet. “Updates for iOS 6, iPhone 5, and more. Android 3.1 coming soon.”

The update v3.1 takes advantage of the iPhone 5′s larger 4-inch screen, improving the photo browsing experience. It also updates the registration process for new users and features a new login page. Users, however, cannot log in with Facebook yet. Users will need to sign in using an Instagram account, however, users can use their Facebook information on their Instagram profile.

The Next Web in its report points out that yhe update for the iPhone 5 does not feature Live filter options, which allowed users to test out different filters before capturing a photo. Reports on the web say it could be due to a bug or a glitch as the iPhone 4S running iOS 6 still shows the live filter button.

Instagram is a free download and the update is available now in the iTunes App Store.
