Google Illustrations was launched in September 2021

A new Google Contacts update allows you to set an illustration as the profile pic for you and your contacts.

Let’s see how you can add illustrations as your Google Contacts picture.

In September 2021, Google came up with a new feature called “Google Illustrations” for Gmail. This tool allowed users to create and set a custom profile picture on their Gmail account. Recently, Google made this feature available on Google Contacts as well.

Using this feature, users can create and use a custom profile pic, and since it is now available on Google Contacts, it can be used to set a profile picture for any contact. A new tab named “Illustrations” now appears next to “Google Photos” and “Device Photos”.

Set illustrations as Google Contacts picture

In the “Illustrations” feature, there is a huge collection of pictures. Some of these are animals, places and cities, nature, food, hobbies and interests, sports, and recreation. These collections were available in the Gmail version of “Illustrations”, but Google has added more pictures and illustrations to each one of these subcategories since the feature was launched.

When it comes down to using the feature, you just have to pick one of the many available pictures and set it as your profile picture. After selecting an image and if you’re on the editor screen, there is a new feature known as “quick crops” that highlights the eye-catching parts of an image and merges it with other color tools that make the illustrations more appealing and immersive.
