BlackBerry has announced that its BBM will comes pre-installed on LG smartphones beginning with the LG Pro Lite.

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) will now be available on select LG smartphones, including the LG Pro Lite announced in October this year. BlackBerry has also tied up with the Indian manufacturers Micromax, Spice, Zen and Celkon to pre-load BBM on their smartphones.

BBM lets users share files and photos as well as update their profile and status with ease. Users can connect with up to 30 people as a BBM Group to chat and share photos, files or documents. Users can also download the popular messaging app from the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App store.

“BBM is widely used throughout the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia where smartphone users tend to engage heavily in social networking,” says Kevin Shin, Vice President of Marketing for Asia, the Middle East and CIS countries of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The LG G Pro Lite offers an optimized BBM experience with its large, high quality display and embedded Stylus Pen.”

“People across the globe are using BBM to connect with each other and the enthusiasm has been phenomenal,” said Andrew Bocking, Executive Vice President for BBM at BlackBerry. “We’re extremely pleased that LG Electronics will help bring their customers a more seamless experience with BBM by preloading the app, starting with the G Pro Lite in key markets.”

BlackBerry recently launched updates for its BBM for Android and iOS users. The update allows users to install the app on Wi-Fi only devices like the Apple iPad and iPod Touch. The Android version of BBM gets new Contact categories, a new ‘Tell your friends’ feature and also addresses battery usage issues.
