My colleague’s review of the Qubo R700 got me thinking about how much difference there really is between a Rs 15,000 air purifier and one that costs around Rs 25,000. I had already spent time testing the Wozoyo Pure Air PA6, so I had a good reference point for the more expensive option. Both use HEPA filtration, activated carbon and app-based controls, but that’s about where the similarities start to get interesting.
The R700 was tested in a 150 sq ft bedroom and in larger spaces using dhoop batti smoke, while I used the PA6 in my roughly 1,100 sq ft apartment and tracked its PM2.5 levels over time. Looking at those experiences together gives a better idea of whether the extra Rs 10,000 buys something you’ll actually notice.

The R700 was tested in a 150 sq ft bedroom, but the smoke tests were more interesting. In a closed 160 sq ft room, dhoop batti smoke brought the PM2.5 level down by 50% in under five minutes. In the open 550 sq ft space, the same reduction took under 10 minutes. That’s pretty good performance from a purifier costing around Rs 15,000.
It also wasn’t particularly difficult to live with. At the higher fan speeds, you can hear the purifier working, but the lower speeds were comfortable enough for a nap. Sleep Mode worked well at night, and at around 4.1 kg, the R700 is easy to move from one room to another.
The PA6 was used in my roughly 1,100 sq ft apartment, which is a very different environment from the R700’s bedroom test. Starting at 310 µg/m³, the PM2.5 reading dropped to 259 µg/m³ after five minutes and 145 µg/m³ after 10 minutes. After an hour, it was around 63 µg/m³ and eventually settled around 30–35 µg/m³. A repeat test showed a similar pattern, although the starting pollution level wasn’t exactly the same.
I also found the PA6’s Auto mode useful because I could leave it running without constantly changing the fan speed. The purifier itself is much larger and weighs close to 8 kg, though, so moving it around isn’t something I’d want to do regularly. Wheels would have made a lot of sense here. Sleep Mode was quiet enough to leave running overnight.
The R700 has a five-stage filtration system with a pre-filter, antibacterial filter, True HEPA H13, activated carbon and a nano-silver coating. It covers the usual bases for dust, fine particles, smoke and odours. (digit.in)
The PA6 uses a four-stage setup with a pre-filter, antibacterial layer, H13 HEPA and activated carbon. So there isn’t a dramatic difference in the filtration hardware itself.
The PA6’s 700 m³/h CADR is the larger hardware difference between the two.
Qubo rates the R700 for up to 700 sq ft, while Wozoyo quotes up to 2,915 sq ft at 1 ACH. I wouldn’t treat those figures as a direct apples-to-apples comparison because the manufacturers use different conditions for their coverage claims.
The actual CADR numbers are easier to compare: 460 m³/h versus 700 m³/h. The R700’s smoke tests also show that it can work in a fairly large open space, while the PA6 was comfortable operating across my 1,100 sq ft apartment.
The R700 has a claimed filter life of up to 15,000 hours, and a replacement filter costs ₹4,250. That’s a manufacturer figure rather than something I’d expect every household to achieve, since dust and pollution levels will affect the actual lifespan.
Wozoyo rates the PA6’s filter for up to 9,000 hours. Its app also shows the remaining filter life, which is handy when you want to check whether a replacement is due.
The R700’s biggest issue during testing was the app. There were occasional sync problems between the purifier and the app, although the purifier itself continued working normally.
With the PA6, I noticed a different problem. Its app sometimes showed a PM2.5 reading around 10–12 points away from the number displayed on the purifier itself. I found the purifier’s own display more useful for checking the air in real time.
Moving the two purifiers around also feels quite different. The R700’s 4.1 kg body is easy to pick up and move, while the PA6’s near-8 kg weight makes it something I’d rather keep in one place.
The R700 already gives you a proper HEPA filter, activated carbon, good smoke-test results, app controls and a fairly easy ownership experience. At around ₹15,000, that’s a lot of purifier for the money.
With the PA6, the 700 m³/h CADR is the big change. I used it in a much larger apartment and found its Auto mode convenient for keeping the purifier running over longer periods. The display also gives you more information, including PM2.5, temperature, humidity and TVOC.
For a bedroom or medium-sized room, I’d go with the Qubo R700. Its test results were good, the filtration setup is comprehensive, and you get a lighter purifier that’s easier to move around.
The PA6 is the better fit when you have a lot more air to clean. The 700 m³/h CADR is something I found useful in my 1,100 sq ft apartment, and the Auto mode made it easy to leave running.
For anything smaller, I’d save the Rs 10,000.
