Eligibility to get and APAAR ID

The person applying should be enrolled in a recognised Indian educational institution. (from pre-primary to higher education)

• A valid Aadhaar card will be needed for identity verification.
• Active mobile number linked to Aadhaar for the OTP authentication.
• Your name, date of birth, and gender should match exactly in school records and Aadhaar data.
• Active DigiLocker account for self-generation and storage.

How to create an APAAR ID for students

While the APAAR ID is generally created by your school or college, you can easily generate one yourself if your institution hasn’t issued it yet. Follow these simple steps to get started:

1. Launch a web browser and head to the DigiLocker website. Alternatively, you can also launch the DigiLocker app on your device.

2. Sign in to your DigiLocker account. 

3. Navigate to the search tab > look for APAAR ID > select the APAAR ID.

4. Enter your personal details like gender, identity type, admission year and more.

5. Once done, tap the Get Document button.

Your 12-digit APAAR ID will be generated automatically. You can view, download, or share it anytime from the Issued tab within the DigiLocker app.
