However, do note that before starting the process, it is important to file an FIR and get a duplicate SIM, which should be activated.   • File an FIR at your nearest police station or on the online police portal. You will need the FIR number to block your lost phone.

  • Make sure the duplicate SIM is activated, because you will receive OTPs on this number during the process.

Now that you have all the prerequisites, follow the easy steps below to block your lost or stolen device on Sanchar Saathi:

1. Launch a web browser on your device.

2. Head to the Sanchar Saathi website.

3. Under citizen centric services press the Block your lost/stolen mobile handset tile.

4. Now, select Block lost/stolen mobile handset.

5. Fill in the details under the device information, lost information and mobile owner personal information sections.

6. Check the box next to Declaration and hit the Proceed button.

Once you submit the required details, the system generates a Request ID which you can later use to track the progress of your blocking status.

How to check lost or stolen mobile request status

If you want to check the status of a lost or stolen mobile phone request, follow the underlying steps:

1. Launch a web browser and go to the Sanchar Saathi website. 

2. Navigate to block your lost or stolen mobile handset section.

3. Press the check lost/stolen mobile request status tile.

4. Enter the Request ID you received after filing the blocking report in the box next to Request ID / Complaint No.

5. Enter the captcha code shown on the screen and hit the Submit button.

6. Now the system will display the current status of your request.

7. You may receive one of the following three statuses:

  • Blocked: Your mobile has been successfully blocked.
  • Under Process: Your request is still being processed.
  • Rejected: Your request could not be processed.
    Note: Rejection usually happens due to errors in the report filing or mismatched information.

How to unblock your lost or stolen device on Sanchar Saathi

If you found the lost or stolen device and want to unblock it, then you can follow the steps below:

1. Head to the Sanchar Saathi website.

2. Look for the block your lost/stolen mobile handset section and press the tile.

3. Choose unblock found mobile handset from the available options.

4. Enter the Request ID, mobile number and reason for unblocking.

5. Enter the OTP you received on the duplicate number.

6. Fill in the captcha details and enter submit.

Once you submit the unblocking request, you will get a confirmation message or email saying that your unblock request has been received. However, your device may not be unblocked immediately because the authorities need time to review the request. Once they approve it, you will get another notification (SMS or email) confirming that your mobile phone has been unblocked.
