Google Chat is becoming a more helpful tool for both work and personal conversations. Many people often want to send a message at a later time so that the other person receives it when they are free. Until now, Google Chat did not offer this option, and users had to rely on other apps for message scheduling. Google has finally added this feature, which means you can now draft a message and choose the exact time it should be delivered. This makes communication easier for people who work across different time zones or want to avoid sending messages late at night. The new update is rolling out now and will reach everyone by mid-January 2026.
The new scheduling feature works in a very simple and familiar way. When you type a message in Google Chat, you will see a small arrow button next to the send icon. This new arrow gives you the option to schedule your message instead of sending it right away. You can choose a specific date and time up to 120 days in the future. This helps you plan your communication in advance and avoid forgetting important messages.

Once you have scheduled a message, Google Chat will show a banner above the typing area in that conversation. This banner is a reminder that there is a scheduled message waiting to be sent. It also gives you quick access to edit, reschedule, or cancel the message. This is helpful in case your plans change and you want to adjust the timing.

Google Chat also gives you a new place to manage all your scheduled messages. On the left side, you will see a new Drafts shortcut. When you click on it, you can view every message that you have scheduled across different chats. From this area, you can choose to edit the text, change the time, send the message right away, or delete it completely.

The best part is that message scheduling is available to everyone. You do not need a paid Google Workspace plan. It works for all Workspace accounts, Workspace Individual users, and even personal Google accounts. As Google completes the rollout by mid-January 2026, all users will get access automatically.
