One thing most of us, or at least I, can never leave home without is a watch. While it doubles up as a fashion accessory, a watch’s main task is to help us keep track of time in our day-to-day lives. But, sure, we all know that. Now, I personally like analogue watches, but these days, I’m also getting more inclined towards smartwatches. However, in 2026, the smartwatch market is highly saturated with products that feature everything you’d need. You want a long-lasting battery or health and wellness features, or you simply want the best design and features to make a statement. A smartwatch has it all. One such product to be added to this range will be the Realme Watch S5.
One of the reasons I have started inclining towards smartwatches is that it allows me to track my messages, calls, and other notifications directly from my wrist. It not only saves time but also gives me more freedom, whether I’m driving or visiting a crowded place. Also, a smartwatch allows me to track everything from my daily activities to sleep cycles. Not only that, but it keeps an eye on my health and wellness too.
It looks like Realme has kept things fairly straightforward with their latest wearable by focusing on offering an excellent screen, a big battery, and a premium build. On paper, the watch brings features like an AMOLED display, independent GPS, long battery life claims, and a premium-looking metal build. But, beyond the specs and the feature-set, there’s a lot you need to look at.
Before I get into the numbers and put this smartwatch through extensive testing, here’s what I feel about the Realme Watch S5 based on what the company is promising so far and how it looked to me at first glance.
Looking at the Realme Watch S5 for the first time gives you a premium feel. For the S5 model, Realme has gone with an aluminium alloy dial in a circular shape, giving the smartwatch a more traditional watch feel rather than a sporty one.
This smartwatch sports a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a pixel density of 302 PPI. The company also claims that it can reach up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, promising decent outdoor visibility.
Another thing that caught my eye is that it boasts Panda Glass protection and the claimed 79 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Combined with the slim profile, the watch looks modern without feeling too bulky. It also includes three physical side buttons, which could make navigation easier during workouts or when touch controls are less convenient.

The Realme Watch S5 uses a removable 22mm silica gel wrist strap. Now, this is probably the one area where I’m slightly reserved before testing. Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of silica gel straps because they sometimes feel less premium and can become uncomfortable over long usage, depending on the fit.
That said, I’m keeping an open mind here. If Realme has managed the weight distribution well and paired it with a comfortable strap design, this could still work nicely in a daily routine. The dimensions suggest the company is trying to keep things wearable rather than oversized, so I’m optimistic about the overall fit and comfort in the long run. However, I feel that this is definitely something that needs proper testing before giving a final judgement.

The Realme Watch 5 comes with independent GPS support. Moreover, it also supports five global satellite navigation systems. If going by these details, the smartwatch could be one of the best accessories for outdoor runs, walks, and activity tracking without relying fully on a phone.
Aside from that, Realme has also packed the smartwatch with a 460mAh battery that would keep your device active throughout the navigation process and more. The company claims that it can be used for up to 16 days of standard usage on a single charge. However, they further added that there is also a customisable light smart mode that pushes it up to 20 days.
Those numbers sound impressive on paper, especially considering the AMOLED panel and GPS support, but battery claims and real-world usage can often tell different stories. I’ll get back to you on the actual usage in the full review.
There’s one small thing that left me disappointed with the Realme Watch S5. Inside the box, Realme only includes the watch, charging base, and user guide. There’s no Type-C charging cable, which feels like a strange omission in 2026, especially at this price point. It honestly comes across as cost-cutting, particularly when the smartwatch made its debut with a price tag of Rs 7,999.
It might not seem like a big issue at first, but including the cable would have made the overall unboxing experience much more convenient and complete. Small details like this often shape a user’s first impression more than brands realise. Hopefully, Realme doesn’t make this a regular trend going forward.
The Realme Watch S5 looks like a smartwatch that wants to balance premium styling with practical features at first glance. The smartwatch comes with an AMOLED display, aluminium build and independent GPS. Furthermore, it also claims to be water-resistant and has a long battery, which certainly makes it look interesting.
At the same time, there are a few areas where expectations should remain measured. The silica gel strap needs real-world use to judge comfort properly, and the missing Type-C wire feels like a huge miss.
For now, these impressions are based purely on specifications and company claims, not real testing. There’s still a lot left to find out, and I’ll reserve final opinions until the detailed review arrives.
