At a showcase event in Mumbai, LG Electronics India unveiled the Essential Series, a brand-new lineup of home appliances built from the ground up for Indian households. Rooted in the philosophy of “Made in India” and “Made for India,” the series represents a major strategic step for LG as it doubles down on localisation, affordability, and consumer insight.
The Essential Series includes four major categories – refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and microwave ovens – each redesigned to meet the needs of Indian families and their day-to-day realities. From inconsistent water pressure and rising electricity bills to specific cooking preferences, LG says the new range directly addresses the conditions most commonly faced in Indian homes.

According to the company, the product design process involved direct engagement with over 1,200 Indian families across urban and rural regions. The feedback gathered from these interactions played a decisive role in shaping how each appliance looks, feels, and functions.
“Designed from the ground-up with insights from thousands of households, this series brings together premium design and everyday reliability,” said Hong Ju Jeon, Managing Director of LG Electronics India, during the launch event. “It addresses the real needs of Indian families with appliances built for local conditions.”
Each appliance in the Essential Series has been tailored to handle the unique challenges of Indian homes. The Fully Automatic Top Load Washing Machine features Low Pressure Fill technology, allowing it to operate efficiently even when water pressure drops – a common issue in many cities and towns. It also comes with a ProShield Motor that protects against dust and moisture, enhancing durability.

The Double Door Refrigerator includes 20% more vegetable storage than LG’s previous comparable models, along with a Smart Mode that adjusts cooling automatically according to seasonal temperature shifts. Meanwhile, the Room Air Conditioner introduces “You Decide Your Bill,” a feature that lets users set an energy usage target, giving them control over electricity consumption.
LG says the Essential Series wasn’t adapted from its global product line but developed specifically for India, in collaboration with Indian consumers. This co-creation approach led to features like an IPX4-rated water-resistant control panel for washing machines and a microwave oven loaded with Indian auto-cook menus – including popular dishes such as paneer, ghee, and dals. The company claims this user-driven process resulted in products that are not just functional but emotionally resonant with Indian homes.
All appliances in the Essential Series are being manufactured at LG’s Pune and Greater Noida plants, furthering the brand’s “Make in India” initiative. Starting prices are expected to begin around ₹18,000, signalling LG’s intent to reach middle-income households that seek quality, durable appliances without premium pricing.
The Essential Series will be available nationwide from November 2025, across LG brand shops, partner retail stores, and leading e-commerce platforms.
