The warning has been issued by the India AI Mission, an independent business division under the Ministry of Electronics and IT. In an official statement shared on X, the team clarified that no fees are charged for registration, participation, or speaking opportunities at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
According to the advisory, any emails, messages, or calls requesting money in connection with the summit should be treated as fraudulent and reported immediately.
The team has also urged participants to rely only on verified IndiaAI and MeitY communication channels for authentic updates.
“This is an official alert issued by the India AI Impact Summit 2026 team for all participants, stakeholders, and the general public regarding fraudulent activities being carried out in the name of the Summit. No fee is charged for registration, participation, or speaking. Any communication seeking money is fake and should be ignored and reported. Please rely only on verified IndiaAI / MeitY channels for authentic updates and information,” a tweet from India AI Mission’s X handle said.
With over 35,000 registrations already recorded and interest pouring in from more than 100 countries, the warning comes at a crucial time. High profile global events often attract bad actors, and the government’s proactive alert is aimed at ensuring attendees are not misled as the February 16 start date approaches.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 16 to February 20, and is expected to be the largest of the global AI summits hosted so far. The five day event will see participation from senior government officials, industry leaders, researchers, startups, and international institutions. Confirmed attendees include names such as Sundar Pichai, Bill Gates, Sam Altman, Jensen Huang, and Dario Amodei, among many others.
During the summit, the government is expected to showcase progress on indigenous AI initiatives, including the development of domestic large and small language models. The focus will most likely be on responsible AI, data governance, and real world deployment across sectors like healthcare, education, and public services. Unlike just product centric tech events, this summit is also about policy, intent, and execution. For those attending, the key takeaway is simple. Registration is free, participation is free, and the only place to sign up is through the official summit website.
