The new 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro is powered by Apple's own silicon called the M1 and delivers on the promise of both performance and battery life. The performance rivals that of the bigger 16-inch MacBook Pro powered by the Intel Core i9 chip, with the battery life being long enough for you to not worry about it. The move to a new architecture was a risky one, but it has paid off for Apple in big ways. We've reviewed this MacBook Pro last year when it came out and found it to be incredibly powerful. It sets a new standard for both performance and battery life in its class. We hardly had anything to complain about and you can read our review of the laptop right here.

DELL XPS 13 (9310) - 2021

Dell's XPS laptops have remained a worthy competitor to Apple's MacBook laptops and they've only gotten better over the years. The Dell XPS 13 is an amalgamation of everything you would ever need from a mainstream laptop. It has the performance of a gaming laptop, the battery life of an Ultrabook, and an industrial design which is tried and tested in the years past. Dell has updated the XPS line up with newer 11th gen Intel Core processors, which means you are essentially looking at some of the best and the most powerful laptops. If the 13-inch variant is too small for you then you might want to check out the XPS 15 which has a 15.6-inch display and has almost the same set of features and internals.

Want a thin and light gaming laptop? Check out the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14! It is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind laptop. It manages to pack so much into such a small form-factor. You get 8 beastly cores with 16 threads to chew through whatever workload you may want to throw at it. For the price, you can buy laptops that deliver better value, but none of them will be as portable as the G14, and THAT is what you are really paying for. Our recommendation would be to skip the 1440p variant and stick to one which offers a 120Hz panel.

  • Impressive performance for the form-factor.
  • Anime Matrix display is a very well implemented gimmick.
  • Truly one-of-a-kind machine at the moment.

  • Heat makes the keyboard unusable.
  • Uses a mid-range SSD.
  • No Pg Up or Pg Dn keys

The Apple MacBook Air has been the world's most popular and loved thin and light laptop for many years. This laurel has been achieved thanks to its reliable performance for day-to-day tasks while delivering class-leading battery life. Well, last year, Apple made the MacBook Air even better by throwing in its M1 chip inside. Now, the MacBook Air powered by the M1 chip is just as powerful as the MacBook Pro 13-inch that's powered by the M1 chip. In fact, it's even comparable to the 16-inch MacBook Pro that's powered by the Intel chip. Apple has completely replaced the older MacBooks with these newer ones that are powered by its M1 chip. With a starting price of Rs 92,900, they're not that expensive either and we think it's the best MacBook for most people right now.

If you are in the market to buy an ultrabook then we highly recommend you consider the ExpertBook B9400. It's ASUS' flagship ultrabook and it's said to be the world's lightest 14-inch business laptop. It's based on Intel's EVO platform which means they are very reliable for day-to-day workloads with snappy performance. What we really like about the ExpertBook B9400 is the fact that it comes with plenty of ports despite its small form factor. It even has a really good keyboard and an oversized touchpad that also doubles up as a Numpad. You can read our full review of the ExpertBook B9400 right here to learn more about the laptop.

If you want the goodness of MacBooks but with a larger screen then the 16-inch MacBook Pro is for you. Apple is yet to refresh these notebooks with its own M1 chip but they're incredibly powerful as it is. Currently, you can configure this MacBook to have up to an Intel Core i9 processor with up to 64GB of RAM and 8TB SSD. We reviewed this laptop last year when it came out and found it to be the definitive choice for creative professionals. The MacBook Pro 16-inch had some pretty big shoes to fill last year after Apple discontinued the 17-inch MacBook and managed to prove its worth. Now, we can't wait to see what the newer 16-inch MacBook Pro units will bring to the table this year.

  • Impressive performance, thermal throttling is well controlled
  • The 16-inch display offers excellent colour reproduction
  • Impressive battery life

  • No SD Card slot
  • Keyboard should have had more travel
  • VFX artists might need more than 16GB RAM

Finding a really good and reliable laptop on a tight budget is quite a task but we have a very good option. If you can't spend more than Rs 60,000 on a laptop, then we suggest you go for the Acer Aspire 7 gaming laptop. It is powered by the Ryzen 5 5500U chip and comes with enough RAM and storage for pumping out a solid performance. The Acer Aspire 7 gaming laptop truly excels in the battery life department. It managed to last longer than most other gaming laptops in its class which is quite impressive considering its price. The only complaint we had with the laptop was the fact that it only had a 60Hz display but it's not exactly a deal-breaker considering how much you are paying for it.

  • Understated design
  • Great performance with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U
  • Excellent battery life
  • Good port selection

  • Highly uncalibrated display
  • The speakers could have been better

As its name suggests, everything about the new 15.6-inch ThinkPad is extreme. Lenovo has updated this laptop with the 10th Gen Intel Core vPro H series processors and it has up to 64GB of RAM. The laptop can take up to two PCIe-based SSDs, and has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU for graphics. It's beastly!

The 2020 edition of the HP Envy 15 is tailor-made keeping content creators in mind. However, thanks to its powerful configuration and a gorgeous IPS display, this laptop is perfect for anyone who needs a machine that will be by their side for a few years at the very least. We are yet to see an 11th gen Intel Core processor upgrade for this machine but it's still plenty powerful and brings a lot of cool features to the table.
