Qnet Kent RO review: Effective but expensive water purifier

Kent is one of the most recognisable names in India’s water purifier market. However, this Smart Alkaline-Mineral RO Water Purifier (Model 11055) is sold through Qnet’s direct selling network. We were approached by Qnet seeking whether we would like to test this purifier model. And since it is a rebadged Kent purifier, we decided to review it. The 11055 model comes with Kent’s established RO technology with an interactive touch display and alkaline mineralisation. There is no smartphone connectivity, and everything happens on the purifier itself. After using the Qnet Kent RO purifier for a month or so, here’s an account of our experience regarding its actual purification performance.

Qnet Kent 11055: Design, installation and UI

The purifier has a white ABS food-grade plastic body with rounded edges and some blue accents. The tap and a stripe on the front have a metallic grey colour. There is a transparent water level indicator and a centrally placed colour touchscreen with key information such as purified water TDS, filter status, service reminders, etc.

The body weighs 8.6 kg and is compact enough for most Indian kitchens. It has to be wall-mounted, and the Kent technician arrived on schedule, completed the installation without any complications, explained the purifier’s basic functions and left after verifying that everything was working properly. The overall experience was smooth and required little intervention from our side.

Since there is no companion mobile app with the Qnet Kent purifier, you’ll have to rely on the front-mounted interactive touch display. This interface is responsive and easy to use. No need to log in to an app. But the absence of an app means you must be standing in front of the purifier to monitor the performance metrics. Purifier models with an app let you access remote alerts, water usage history and performance status right on your phone. No such facility here.

QNET Kent 11055: Purification performance

The 11055 model uses a multi-stage purification process comprising RO, UF, UV, sediment filtration, carbon filtration, alkaline filtration and Kent’s patented mineral retention technology. According to the company, it is suitable for municipal, tap and brackish water supplies.

Our source water measured 458 PPM TDS. After purification, the output water measured 143 PPM. This represents a substantial reduction while retaining some dissolved minerals instead of reducing the TDS to extremely low levels.

The purified water tasted clean without the flat taste commonly associated with some RO systems. Whether the alkaline filter offers measurable health benefits remains a subject of broader scientific debate, but from a day-to-day usage perspective, the water was pleasant to drink.

The purifier also delivered 20 litres of purified water within one hour, matching the company’s claim.

In our measurements, the purifier produced 5 litres of purified water while expelling around 8 litres as wastewater. So, over one hour, it purified approximately 20 litres while rejecting around 32 litres, resulting in a total water input of 52 litres.

This translates to a recovery rate of roughly 38%, which is within the expected range for a conventional RO purifier. While acceptable, it is behind some newer purifiers that result in less reject water.

The purifier stores up to 9 litres of purified water, which should comfortably serve most families before requiring another purification cycle.

Should you buy the Qnet Kent RO?

The Qnet Kent Smart Alkaline-Mineral RO Water Purifier gets the fundamentals right. During our testing, it consistently reduced the TDS of the incoming water, delivered its claimed purification rate and produced water that tasted clean. The touchscreen display is responsive and provides useful information like purified water TDS, filter status and service reminders. You don’t require a companion app and don’t get one here.

That said, the overall package feels less competitive because of that and other reasons. The lack of smartphone connectivity and a conventional 38% water recovery rate mean the 11055 model doesn’t stand out in a market where water purifiers with app-based monitoring and higher water recovery are present.

The Qnet Kent RO purifier is priced at Rs XXX and offered with a one-year on-site warranty. Beyond that, owners will need to factor in annual maintenance costs, including filter replacements and servicing. Official annual maintenance contracts are available separately. Several similarly priced alternatives now include two to three years of comprehensive maintenance within the purchase price, reducing the overall cost of ownership during the initial years.

So, if your priority is dependable purification backed by Kent’s established RO technology, the Qnet Kent RO (11055 model) is a capable performer. However, given its price and long-term ownership costs, its overall offering is less compared to what the competition offers.
