Acer X1260 Review

Updated on 01-Aug-2023

Compact, pocket friendly performer

The X1260 DLP projector is compact little projector from Acer meant for presentation purposes but it is to be seen if it can do anything more than that.

Firstly, the design is compact with a smooth glossy finish. The remote neatly attaches into the projector and the same can be used as a controller for the projector. The blower fan is located at the front of the projector. The controls and the interface are very simple to understand and navigate through. There are even RS232 and USB controller options so you can use the laptop or the computer to control the projector.

It isn’t just the interface and design that makes the Acer attractive. It isn’t a bad performer either. The colours are natural but a little bit on the lower side. The display is crisp at all native resolutions. A lot of the clarity even at the resolution of 1024 x 768 depends on the resolution and quality of the media used. Compressed videos look pretty bad but high definition looks pretty stunning. Change in resolutions takes a lot of time. Focussing is simple and there are no hassles there. There are profiles for different kinds of viewing and these can be customised and saved.

Surprising, the projector doesn’t get very hot as some of the others which is always a good thing. The speaker on the projector isn’t very loud though so it’s better to use an external one. The remote works well but it doesn’t have a really good range so you need to be very close to the projector for it to work.
