Samsung has revealed plans to bring Google Photos to its 2026 TV lineup, aiming to turn the television into a personalised photo hub. The feature will let users view curated memories, themed slideshows, and AI-generated photo edits on a large screen, positioning the TV as more than just an entertainment device. This matters because Samsung is leaning deeper into AI-driven experiences across its connected ecosystem, while Google gains another meaningful surface for its widely used photo platform. It also matters as Samsung and other premium TV brands are now pitching the TV as decor when it is idle. Google Photos on Samsung TVs fits directly into that push.
You will need a Google account with backed-up photos. Only one account can be signed in per TV at a time.
Once enabled, Google Photos will surface Memories organised by people, locations, and moments. The content will appear across the TV interface, including Samsung’s Daily+ experiences and Daily Board, so personal memories show up contextually through the day rather than living inside a single app. So, with this feature, Samsung plans that users can browse and relive photos together in the living room. Users will retain control over what appears, with options to select or hide memories.
Beyond static viewing, Google Photos features such as Create with AI and Remix are coming later in 2026. Create with AI allows users to apply themed templates based on the Nano Banana image generation model. Remix lets you apply other art styles to your photos. Moreover, there will be a feature called Photo to Video, which lets you convert still photos to short video clips.
Personalised Results is the third way to use Google Photos on Samsung TVs. This feature automatically groups relevant and related images by themes like ocean or travel.
Samsung says the integration will be available on select 2026 Samsung TVs, starting from the Crystal UHD U8000 series and above.
As always, availability will vary by market. Some features are planned to roll out globally in phases, while timelines for specific regions have not yet been confirmed.
Compared with older Samsung gallery features, this approach is more automated, more curated, and more tightly linked to cloud storage. It also mirrors what Apple has done with iCloud Photo Memories across iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience, Samsung Visual Display, says the Google Photos integration with Samsung TVs will help people come closer and rediscover memories in a ‘personal’, ‘natural’ and ‘meaningful’ way.
For Google, it extends Google Photos beyond phones and laptops, bringing deeper engagement inside the home. With families spending more time streaming and gaming on TVs, photos become another reason to stay inside the platform.
