Vodafone Idea (Vi) is reportedly expanding into the highly anticipated 5G space. For those unfamiliar, the company launched 5G services in Mumbai Circles last month. According to reports, the telecom giant is expanding its 5G services to four new locations, bringing its total presence to five circles across the country. Here’s everything we know about the Vi 5G rollout, including cities and other details.
The company has confirmed that it will be introducing the Vi 5G services in Delhi, Bihar, Karnataka and Punjab. However, there is no confirmation about the company adding more circles this month. It seems that Vi is now aggressively deploying 5G services to compete with Airtel and Reliance Jio.
Vi 5G is currently available with select prepaid and postpaid plans. The prepaid users can get Vi 5G on recharging for Rs 299 or more. The postpaid users can take 5G benefits on plans that start from Rs 451 or more. According to the reports, the unlimited 5G has a cap of 300GB per 28 days after which the speed restrictions may apply.

For the unversed, Vi is deploying 5G via Non Standalone Architecture which means the new services are built on the existing 4G infrastructure. It is a quicker way to deploy 5G services to compete with the existing Airtel and Jio.
Meanwhile, Vi has extended its 5G services to 11 major cricket stadiums across the country. These stadiums are based in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and more.
Vi has installed 9 Cell On Wheels (CoWs), increased capacity at 44 locations, and launched 53 new 5G sites to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity in busy areas. With no specific plan restrictions mentioned for access within stadiums, cricket fans with smartphones that support 5G can enjoy uninterrupted, lightning-fast internet by simply turning on 5G in their phone settings.
