Xiaomi has officially teased its upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, giving us the first look at what could be two of the most unique flagship phones of 2026. The teaser video reveals a bold new design element, a secondary display on the back, which Xiaomi is branding as the “Magic Back Screen.”
The Xiaomi 17 series is confirmed to arrive as the world’s first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The company says this chipset will deliver next-level performance and efficiency, making the new flagships among the most powerful Android devices at launch.
Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and 17 Pro.
Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are confirmed to debut later this month in their home country, China, but there are no details available on their global debut. In India, Xiaomi usually brings the vanilla model and the Ultra model. However, there is no Ultra variant this time, hence, the company is expected to introduce the standard Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
In a post on the Chinese social media site, Xiaomi’s Mobile Phone Department President, Lu Weibing, confirmed that the lineup will include the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. While the teaser keeps most details under wraps, it does highlight the new rear display.
According to Xiaomi, the Magic Back Screen can serve multiple purposes. It can show different clock faces, act as a selfie viewfinder using the rear cameras, display app information, and even showcase colourful designs. This makes it far more versatile than what we saw on the Mi 11 Ultra in 2021, which featured a small 1.1-inch AMOLED panel with limited functionality.

The teaser also confirms the continuation of Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica. The Leica branding appears just under the rear cameras of the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, hinting that the brands are once again collaborating on camera tuning and image processing.
