Xiaomi 15 Ultra
Amidst the many flagship smartphone launches happening, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has also announced the arrival of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The launch is scheduled for February 27 in China, which will be followed by a global launch on March 2, 2025, at MWC in Barcelona, Spain. It is expected to drop in India around the same time. Ahead of the launch, a lot of rumours and speculations have painted a picture about what we can expect from the device. Let’s take a look.
The major highlight of the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra is going to be its camera. It is expected to carry a quad camera setup with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, boasting an f/2.6 ultra-wide aperture, a 1/1.4-inch sensor, and a 100mm equivalent focal length. Just like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, here too the lenses can be co-engineered with Leica. This time around, Xiaomi is expected to introduce its Summicron Ultra-Pure Optical System, which promises unmatched clarity in low-light photography.
On the design front, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to feature a dual-tone finish with glass and vegan leather. The rear can house a circular camera module with four sensors, an LED flash strip, and an italicised ‘Ultra’ branding, inspired by classic Leica cameras. The device may also feature IP68 and IP69 ratings for enhanced dust and water resistance.
Moreover, the smartphone can carry a 6.73-inch 2K micro quad-curved display and it is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 16GB RAM, and Android 15 (likely based on HyperOS 2.0). On the battery front, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to pack a 6,100mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch in China at CNY 6,499 which is approximately Rs 78,000 or $892. The India pricing remains uncertain, but its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, launched at Rs 99,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB variant, so we can expect similar pricing this time too.
