Samsung to reveal cause of Galaxy Note 7 explosions by mid-January

HIGHLIGHTS

Reports state that Samsung now knows the cause of the Galaxy note 7 fires and has appointed 2 different safety testing companies to conclude its investigation.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explosions have been a matter of secrecy for a while now. The flagship smartphone launched last year, but the device started catching fire, causing multiple injuries and accidents. Samsung later recalled the device and instructed users to stop using it completely. The Korean smartphone maker had then promised to get to the bottom of the matter and figure out the cause for these random explosions.

A few weeks ago, reports from Korean business news platform, The Investor, stated that Samsung had concluded its investigation into the Galaxy Note 7 fires, but the company did not officially reveal the results of the same. Now, another report from JoongAng Ilbo reaffirms Samsung’s conclusion of the Note 7 investigation. Sources also tell Korea Herald that Samsung has enlisted the help of US-based safety company, Underwriter Laboratories as well as state-owned Korea Testing Laboratories. Further, sources also revealed that Samsung is expected to disclose the findings of these investigations in a few weeks.

This should be a big hurdle crossed for Samsung, as the results of the Note 7 investigations are eagerly awaited by users as well as investors. It should also help reinstate market confidence in the company, which lost billions of dollars on the back of Galaxy note 7 explosions.
