Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup might look a little different from what we expected. While earlier reports suggested the company was planning to drop the “Plus” model in favour of new Edge and Pro variants, a new report from South Korea hints that Samsung could be bringing the Galaxy S26 Plus back to life. According to a latest report by The Elec, citing industry sources, Samsung has started production of a new device with the codename “M Plus” model, believed to be the Galaxy S26 Plus.
This is a notable shift from earlier leaks, which claimed that the 2026 flagship lineup would include only three devices – the Galaxy S26 Pro (M1), Galaxy S26 Edge (M2), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (M3).
The decision reportedly comes after the sluggish sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which debuted earlier this year as Samsung’s first ultra-slim smartphone. The device was expected to replace the “Plus” model and compete directly with Apple’s new iPhone Air. However, sales of the S25 Edge have reportedly been slower than expected, prompting Samsung to reconsider the revival of Galaxy S26 Plus.
The report suggests that Samsung is planning to produce around 300,000 more units of the S25 Edge by the end of 2025. Notably, the “Plus” models in Samsung’s Galaxy S series have consistently struggled to attract buyers compared to the standard and Ultra variants. The company expected the ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge to outperform the Plus model, but early numbers suggest it hasn’t met the expectation.

Interestingly, Apple too had discontinued its iPhone 17 Plus model in favour of the slimmer iPhone Air, which also hasn’t seen strong demand. If the reports are accurate, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup could once again include four models, with the Galaxy S26 Plus making a comeback.
