Three Galaxy S26 models appeared in India’s BIS database, triggering speculation about an Edge variant.

Tipsters clarified that the confusing model number actually belongs to the Galaxy S26 Plus, not a revived Edge phone.

Current certifications and IMEI data indicate Samsung will launch the S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra, without an Edge model.

Samsung S26 series is one of the most awaited flagship series, and as the time for its release comes closer, new information is also coming to light. Recent reports suggest that Samsung has already started the formal processes required before launching its next flagship phones in India. These listings usually appear months before the official reveal, and they often confirm which models are actually coming to market.

Three model numbers were spotted in the BIS listing. While two of them were identified as the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra, the third model number has caused major confusion among followers. At first glance, it looks like the Galaxy S26 Edge has returned, but a deeper look tells a very different story. What seems like a comeback is actually a misunderstanding caused by internal model numbers and certification rules.

Tipster Debayan Roy recently shared the news that Samsung has filed for the BIS listing for three models. The model numbers that were spotted in the BIS listing were SM-S942, SM-S947, and SM-S948. He further clarified that SM-S942 corresponds to the standard Galaxy S26, while SM-S948 is linked to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the confusion started with the SM-S947, as many believed that Samsung was planning to bring back the Galaxy S26 Edge.

The confusion was later addressed by tipster Erencan Yılmaz, who clarified that it stems from internal model numbering rather than any revival of the Edge lineup. According to him, the Galaxy S26 Plus and the now-discontinued Galaxy S26 Edge share overlapping internal model numbers, with the Edge having already completed battery certification under the SM-S947 designation.

To avoid duplication during subsequent certifications, Samsung reportedly used the SM-S946 model number for certain Galaxy S26 Plus approvals. This led to misinterpretations, but all currently visible IMEIs correspond only to the Galaxy S26 Plus, confirming that the Edge model is not returning.

This overlap has again started talk about Samsung bringing back the Edge series. However, there is no real proof of that right now. All the IMEI numbers found in the BIS listings are linked only to the Galaxy S26 Plus. There are no separate IMEI numbers that clearly point to a Galaxy S26 Edge model.

Unless the new BIS listings reveal the Edge lineup or come with different IMEI numbers for such a product, the chances of the return of the Galaxy Edge lineup appear remote. Currently, the official records indicate that the company is likely to launch the standard Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Ultra and S26 Plus without the Edge lineup.
