Latest leak reveals the Alpha will sport a 4.8-inch 720p screen similar to the Galaxy S3, hinting the smartphone will be a mid-range device rather a premium one as suggested earlier.

We’ve been hearing about the Galaxy Alpha for quite some time. Earlier rumours suggested the Alpha will compete against iPhone 6 and other flagship smartphones. However, the new reports suggest the Alpha could be a mid-range device.

Though the Galaxy Alpha will sport a premium metallic design, but it is unlikely to feature high end hardware. According to a Samsung dev console, the device will have a 720p display, reminiscent of the Galaxy S3 that launched about two years ago.

According to reports, the device will sport ‘Galaxy Alpha’ name rather Galaxy S5 Alpha as predicted earlier. Compiling all the rumours, the Alpha will feature a 4.8-inch 720 display, 32GB memory, fingerprint scanner and nano SIM slot. The smartphone is expected to be running the latest Snapdragon 805 chipset.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Alpha in August ahead of Apple’s iPhone6 launch.  There are also speculations the Alpha may be showcased along with the next generation Note device.
