After almost five years, Apple can soon unveil the successor to its iPhone SE 3 which was launched back in 2020. The iPhone SE 4 is expected this week, according to Apple analyst Mark Gurman. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant is yet to confirm this. If rumours are to be believed, Apple can give its budget-friendly iPhone SE a modern makeover and possibly even a name change. This time we can see a major switch from the design language of the iPhone SE 3. Leaks suggest that the design can shadow that of the iPhone 14. We can also get to see big improvements like a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, and 5G support.

iPhone SE 4 expected specifications

Leaks, including one from case maker Spigen, suggest that the iPhone SE 4 will ditch thick bezels and home button that were an identifier of the earlier models. Instead, it will feature thinner bezels and a notch, similar to the iPhone 14. However, unlike the iPhone 14’s dual-camera system, the SE 4 is expected to house a single 48MP rear camera.

The Touch ID on the iPhone SE 3 will be replaced by the Face ID on the iPhone SE 4. On the performance front, the upcoming smartphone is rumored to be powered by the A18 Bionic chip, making it the most powerful SE model to date. The device may also pack 8GB of RAM and, for the first time, feature a USB-C port instead of the usual Lightning connector. Apple has changed the same for its other devices too to be in line with the EU norms.

Expected price and launch details

Apple may not hold a major event for this launch, opting instead for a YouTube announcement and a press release on or around February 11, 2025. If rumours are to be believed, the iPhone SE 4 can start at under $500, which converts to around Rs 49,000 in India.
