iPhone 17 Air will likely go official in September alongside iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The handset, claimed to be the thinnest iPhone ever, may replace the Plus model in the upcoming lineup. As the anticipation builds for the upcoming smartphone, a new leak has given some insight into its battery capacity, thickness and other features. Previous reports have suggested that Apple may cut down some of the features to incorporate a sleeker design. Notably, none of these are officially confirmed yet, hence, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.
Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new iPhone 17 Air with just 5.5mm thickness, thinner than the newly launched Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures 5.8mm thickness. While reports have been suggesting that the rumoured handset may compromise on battery life and a few other features, a new leak confirms the same by revealing the expected battery capacity. According to a tipster Yeux1122 on Naver, the iPhone 17 Air may pack 2,800mAh battery and weighs just 145g. It’s a massive drop from the existing iPhone 16’s 3,561mAh battery.
However, the tipster also added that the phone may use high-density silicon-anode battery cells that could potentially improve the actual battery capacity by 15 per cent to 20 per cent. Additionally, Apple is also expected to bring a phone case-like accessory to address the battery life problem.

The iPhone 17 Air is likely to ship with only one rear camera module. The handset may also come with a single speaker and eSIM-only support. Apple will likely ditch the physical SIM card slot to incorporate the ultra-slim profile.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to debut at a price of $1,299, or roughly Rs. 1,09,500, in India.
