HTC Windows Phone 8X to hit shelves on November 8?

Updated on 26-Sep-2012

Rumours surrounding the pricing and release date of HTC’s new WP8 flagship, the Windows Phone 8X, are doing the rounds of the Internet, based on information purportedly leaked from online retailers such as Amazon and Clove. The 8X will ship in early November, and features a rather hefty price tag.

Amazon UK website says that the SIM-free version of the 8X will be priced at £531.43 or $863 (Rs. 46,300 approx.). Clove.co.uk has the device listed for £399.98, which is Rs. 35,000 approx.

Though the release date hasn’t been officially announced by HTC, we find the date quite believable, as the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 are also expected to launch around the same time, and HTC would like to cash in on the holiday season. Besides, the dust after the iPhone 5 storm too would have settled by then.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, bearing a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and Adreno 225 GPU, coupled with 1GB of RAM. The 8X has a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display, with a resolution of 1,280×720 pixels (342ppi), and Gorilla Glass 2 treatment, apart from special anti-glare lamination.

10.1mm-thick, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is built on a polycarbonate unibody design, offers 16GB of built-in storage, and weighs in at 130 grams. It features an 8MP autofocus camera with a BSI sensor, LED flash, and an f/2.0 lens, with a 28mm FOV. The 8X also boasts of a dedicated image processor – the HTC ImageChip, which will also deliver 1080p HD video recording at 30fps, along with stereo sound. The device also comes with Beats Audio sound – no bundled headphones though. You can catch complete details about the HTC Windows Phone device launch event here.
