Google is reportedly working to resolve long-term screen flickering issues caused by low PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) dimming on Pixel smartphones. The fix is expected to be released with the upcoming Pixel 10 series, which is set to arrive in August 2025. If true, this could be fantastic news for Pixel fans
While the Pixel 9 series has received praise for its AI capabilities, performance, and display quality, particularly in terms of colour accuracy and readability, it falls short of competitors due to its low PWM rate. This subtle, rapid change in brightness can have an impact on users who are sensitive to flickering, making the enhancement a much-needed improvement for display health.
According to a report from Android Central, Google is considering a new display upgrade that will significantly reduce flicker, making screen usage more comfortable to the eyes. If implemented, this would be one of the most-awaited hardware upgrades to the Pixel line in years, especially for users who have been complaining about eye discomfort.
Google hasn’t officially confirmed the upgrade, but it is expected to involve either a higher-frequency PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) dimming or an improved OLED panel technology to help reduce eye strain.

The Pixel 10 Pro is expected to have a similar design to the Pixel 9 Pro. However, in terms of specifications, the smartphone is expected to feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to be powered by a new Tensor G5 chipset and up to 16GB of RAM.
The Pixel 10 Pro is said to have a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera. It may work with Android 16 out of the box. Additionally, it is said to support faster wired and wireless charging.
