While we are waiting for the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air launch, Apple seems to be working on its long rumoured entry into the foldable phone market. Apple has not officially acknowledged the launch of the first iPhone Fold, but leaks suggest that it may rival the book-style foldable flagships from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, Vivo, and more.
In the latest update, trusted tipster Digital Chat Station has shared some key details about the iPhone Fold on Weibo. He stated that the company is testing a prototype for its first foldable iPhone, potentially called the iPhone Fold, with a launch window expected in late 2026.

He also stated that the sources suggest the company is simultaneously finalizing hardware decisions for the foldable model, which is still in the testing phase. However, he did mention some key specifications of the potential iPhone Fold.
The iPhone Fold is said to get a 7.58-inch inner foldable panel, slightly smaller than the 7.8-inch figure mentioned in earlier predictions by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. When unfolded, it can be compared to an iPad Mini, the tipster added.
As for the cameras, Apple seems to be offering a dual 48MP camera setup, which is also aligning with the leaks for iPhone 17 Pro models. However, the specific type of lens has not been clear at the moment.
Apple may offer a titanium body, much similar to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models, and a hinge mechanism built with a material called amorphous metallic glass, which may offer durability and a premium feel.
It is worth noting that the device is said to be in the prototype stage and it may take a few years for Apple to step into the foldable category. Till now, the segment is dominated by Samsung, OnePlus, and Google. If the leaks are believed to be true, the iPhone Fold could launch in fall 2026.
