Apple iPhone Air was praised for its ultra slim form factor and features but saw weak sales. Looking at the numbers, the previous leaks and reports suggested that Apple is planning to discontinue the Air lineup. But now the latest report suggests that the iPhone Air 2 could launch sooner than previously expected. This comes after a leaker Fixer Focus Digital on Weibo claims that Apple is planning to introduce the second-generation iPhone Air at its traditional fall event, usually held in early September.
This claim contradicts recent reports from The Information, which indicated that Apple had removed the iPhone Air 2 from its schedule indefinitely. While the other reports citing the engineers stated that the company could release a redesigned version spring 2027 along with the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. Fixed Focus Digital also corroborated earlier leaks that the iPhone 17e is expected to launch at Apple’s spring event, adding that the device has already entered mass production.
Speaking of changes, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to be redesigned to address the main criticism levelled at its predecessor. Apple is said to be considering a dual rear camera setup and a lower price point to make it appear more appealing to consumers.
It should be noted that Apple has not confirmed anything about the upcoming iPhone lineup. According to the leaks, the company plans to release the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as well as the highly anticipated iPhone Fold next year in September. The iPhone 18 and other devices are expected to launch later, possibly in 2027.
Again, these are just early leaks, and the brand has yet to confirm whether it is adopting a split launch strategy like other brands.
