Apple could release the new iPhone 17 series next month. According to the report, the iPhone 17 Pro’s starting price could increase by $50 while also offering more storage. This comes after a reliable Chinese leakster, Instant Digital, claimed on Weibo, citing sources, that the iPhone 17 Pro base variant would have 256GB of storage. This is a significant improvement over the 128GB storage on the iPhone 16 Pro.
Additionally, the tipster confirmed the iPhone 17 Pro price in the United States. Here’s what we know so far.
As per the tipster, the iPhone 17 Pro will be priced at $1,049 in the US. To recall, the iPhone 16 Pro is priced at $999, but the 128GB variant, while the 256GB variant is priced at $1,099. While it may look like a price hike, this will reportedly change the new baseline variant, a move that we have seen earlier as well.
For instance, the iPhone 16 Pro Max had 256GB as the base variant, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max started at 128GB, resulting in a higher entry price.

With this, the company may try to provide more value by offering twice the storage for $50 more. This could also help to streamline the Pro lineup by separating the Pro and Pro Max models. However, the tipster made no mention of the ongoing trade issues or the tariff impact.
This goes in line with the earlier reports, which claimed that Apple will increase the prices across the iPhone 17 series. The reports also predicted that it may increase prices by $50 across the board over the higher component costs and tariffs linked to China. The Wall Street Journal has also reported that Apple is evaluating potential price adjustments for the iPhone 17 lineup.
For the unversed, Apple is said to unveil the iPhone 17 series on September 9, with official sales starting September 19.
