With less than two months left for the launch of its late-2025 iPhone models, leaks and rumours have been buzzing on the internet, suggesting some long-awaited upgrades. A latest report has now tipped that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could get an anti-reflective coating for their displays. After reportedly facing significant production challenges earlier this year, it appears that Apple has finally overcome them and will incorporate this upgraded display coating into the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, it won’t be available on the standard iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Air.
Here’s what we know.
According to a report by MacRumors citing a reliable source, Apple’s suppliers have successfully achieved the necessary yield for the anti-reflective glass, enabling the tech giant to incorporate the coating. The new display technology is expected to offer better scratch resistance than the current Ceramic Shield used in previous iPhone models.
The rumours about incorporating an anti-reflective layer into the iPhone’s display were first reported in 2024. It was said that the new coating would improve the device’s ability to resist glare and scratches. However, earlier this year, Apple was said to face significant challenges in scaling up the production process. Now, those issues have been resolved, allowing the feature to make a comeback.
Currently, iPhones are equipped with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and Ceramic Shield.

In terms of cameras, both the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max could get a triple 48MP camera setup on the back, whereas on the front, they are said to have a 24MP front camera.
The iPhone 17 Pro is said to come with a price tag of around Rs 1,39,900, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to be priced at around Rs 1,64,900.
