Apple may host its next launch event later this year and reveal the much-anticipated iPhone 17 series. While it is too early to talk about the upcoming devices, the rumour mill has already suggested some massive upgrades for the iPhone 17 series. In the latest update, the camera details about the iPhone 17 lineup have surfaced online. As per leaks, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max may get a massive camera upgrade over the iPhone 16 series.

Both the rear camera setup and selfie camera are said to get some major enhancements. This year, Apple may introduce 8K recording support, which we have already seen with a slew of Android devices this year, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Here are the complete details about the camera setup of the iPhone 17 series.

iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max camera

After introducing 48MP main and ultra-wide sensors on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Apple later extended them to non-pro models. However, only one lens remains untouched: the telephoto lens, which is now reportedly set to change. According to recent rumours, Apple may include a new 48MP telephoto sensor in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. It would represent a significant improvement over the iPhone 16 Pro’s 12MP telephoto lens.

Additionally, the selfie camera is also in the line to get an update from the existing 12MP TrueDepth. iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max could finally ship with a 24MP front-facing camera.

That’s not all; other camera upgrades are also on the horizon. Apple is rumoured to finally bring a variable aperture and native dual-video capture on the iPhone 17 Pro models. The latter will enable users to record with both the front camera and rear camera simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the company is also speculated to introduce a 120Hz refresh rate display on iPhone 17 standard models. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have a 60Hz refresh rate display.
