Apple has officially announced the new iPad Pro, powered by its latest and most powerful M5 chip. The new model takes a big leap in performance, efficiency, and AI capabilities while keeping the familiar thin and lightweight design. The iPad Pro has always been the benchmark for professional tablets, and the latest M5 chip brings major gains across CPU, GPU, and AI performance, making it ideal for power users who rely on the iPad for creative, professional, or even everyday tasks. Apple says the new M5 chip delivers up to 5.6 times faster AI performance compared to the first M1 iPad Pro, which means on-device tasks like image generation, video masking, and AI upscaling should be significantly faster and more efficient. Combined with a brighter Ultra Retina XDR display, faster connectivity, and a refreshed iPadOS 26, this year’s iPad Pro feels like Apple’s most complete iPad yet. Here’s everything you need to know.

iPad Pro with M5 chip: Price and availability

The new iPad Pro is available in two sizes: 11-inch and 13-inch. There are two colours on offer, Space Black and Silver. Prices start at Rs 99,900 for the 11-inch model, while the larger 13-inch version begins at Rs 1,29,900. Both models can be configured with up to 2TB of storage. Pre-orders are live now, with in-store availability beginning on 22 October 2025. Cellular variants also include Apple’s new C1X modem, offering up to 50% faster data speeds and improved power efficiency.

iPad Pro with M5 chip: Key specs and features

At the heart of the new iPad Pro is the M5 chip, which brings significant upgrades in performance and AI processing. It features a new 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator built into every core, allowing faster AI tasks like diffusion-based image generation in apps such as Draw Things and AI video masking in DaVinci Resolve. The M5’s CPU is also faster, featuring four high-performance and six efficiency cores, capable of delivering smoother multitasking and quicker app loading. For creators, M5 enables up to 6.7 times faster 3D rendering and 6 times faster video transcoding than the M1 iPad Pro.

Apple has also improved the memory and storage system. The new iPad Pro offers up to 150GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and twice the storage read/write speeds, meaning apps, large files, and AI models load much faster. Models starting from 256 GB now come with 12 GB of unified memory.

The display is another highlight. The Ultra Retina XDR panel uses tandem OLED technology to deliver richer colours, higher contrast, and extreme brightness levels, peaking at 1,600 nits for HDR content. It supports ProMotion and True Tone, along with a nano-texture glass option that helps reduce glare for users who work in bright environments.

On the connectivity front, the iPad Pro introduces two new Apple-designed chips: the C1X modem and the N1 wireless networking chip. The latter supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, improving wireless reliability and speed for file transfers and AirDrop.

The new iPadOS 26 complements this hardware with a cleaner design and improved multitasking features. It brings a redesigned windowing system, a more capable Files app, and a new Preview app for viewing and editing PDFs. There’s also deeper integration with Apple Intelligence for AI-based tasks like live translation, reminders, and on-device productivity tools.

Apple has also refreshed the accessories lineup, including the Magic Keyboard with a thinner, lighter design and a function row, and the Apple Pencil Pro, which adds better precision and haptic feedback for creative work.
