MacBook Pro M5 gets big discount on Amazon: Should you buy it?

Last year, Apple surprised us all with a sudden MacBook Pro launch. The 14-inch laptop was announced via a press release and delighted fans across the world. More recently, Apple launched the M5 Max and the M5 Pro powered laptops as well. Now the M5 MacBook Pro (2025) is available at a discount on Amazon. And considering that recently-launched MacBook Pros rarely get a discount, this is a deal worth paying attention to. Read on.

M5 MacBook Pro gets a discount on Amazon

The variant that is on discount is the 14 inch M5 MacBook Pro with 1TB storage. On Amazon, the laptop is currently priced at Rs 1,83,490, reflecting a Rs 6,410 discount from the official retail price of Rs 1,89,900. In addition to this, those using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card can also get up to Rs 5,504 cashback in the form of Amazon Pay balance, which further lowers the cost.

Talking about the features, the laptop is running on Apple’s M5 chip, which features a 10 core CPU and a 10 core GPU along with a Neural Accelerator integrated into each GPU core. Apple says this architecture is designed to speed up demanding workloads such as video editing, AI powered tools, and complex creative tasks. The machine also features a 14.2 inch Liquid Retina XDR display capable of reaching up to 1600 nits of peak HDR brightness.

The laptop also comes with a 16GB unified memory and macOS with Apple Intelligence features. Furthermore, its battery can last through a full day of work, as per Apple. The laptop also supports fast charging, allowing it to reach about 50 percent battery in around 30 minutes with a compatible charger. For professionals working with apps like Adobe Creative Cloud or Microsoft 365, the M series chip ensures smooth performance thanks to Apple’s silicon optimisation.

Should you buy it?

Now, just because a deal is up for grabs, doesn’t mean you always have to take it. The M5 MacBook Pro is a super powerful laptop that fits the bill for someone who indulges in a lot of video editing, 3D rendering, AI model testing, software development, or heavy multitasking with professional apps.

However, the MacBook Pro might also be an overkill for many users. For instance, if you mostly browse the web or just use docs and spreadsheets on your laptop, you might not need the Pro at all. In such cases, the MacBook Air with the M5 chip is a more practical choice.
