Apple may have quietly revealed a new MacBook before it was ready to talk about it. During its weeklong product launch event on Tuesday, a listing for ‘MacBook Neo (Model A3404)’ briefly appeared on a regulatory compliance page on Apple’s website under its 2026 Mac lineup. The page was later taken down, but not before it was noticed and shared online. The listing did not include any specifications or images, only the name and model number. Even so, the appearance has sparked fresh talk about Apple working on a more affordable MacBook aimed at students and everyday users looking for a lower-priced option.
The listing was first spotted by MacRumors. They reported that the name was spotted as part of Apple’s upcoming Mac lineup for 2026. However, Apple has not made an official announcement regarding the existence of the MacBook Neo.

Recent reports have indicated that Apple is reportedly working on a MacBook that is expected to be priced between $699 and $799 and is likely to be launched in the market soon. However, unlike the existing Mac lineup of devices that are equipped with M-series chips developed by Apple, this MacBook is likely to be equipped with an A-series chip, such as the A18 Pro or A19 Pro, which is currently being used in iPhones.

The timing of such a rumoured MacBook Neo is also interesting because Apple recently launched its MacBook Air M5 on the same day, which also increased its price to a starting point of $1,099.
The MacBook Neo is also expected to be equipped with a 12.9-inch display screen, which will also revive a compact design similar to the 12-inch MacBook that was discontinued by Apple years ago.

Leaks and reports suggest that the MacBook Neo could start in India with a price tag of around Rs 74,900 to Rs 84,900. This would position it comfortably below the new M5 MacBook Air, which starts at Rs 1,19,900. However, these prices are not final and could vary at the time of official launch.
