After years of speculation, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be released later this year. This comes after the company released a teaser for X titled “an update from Nintendo,” which revealed the design of the upcoming gaming console. The teaser also revealed some significant upgrades over the first-generation Switch.
The teaser shows a larger screen, redesigned Joy-con controllers with magnetic attachments, two USB-C ports, and a revamped kickstand. If you are a fan of Nintendo, your wish for a new color scheme will be granted. The video also demonstrated how the Joy-con controllers can be used as a mouse, with the controllers sliding across a surface thanks to an optical sensor. However, there may be some surprises there.
Furthermore, Nintendo has stated that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible. It means that both physical and digital games from the original Nintendo Switch will work on the new hardware, though some games, particularly those designed for specific accessories like the Nintendo Labo kits, may not be fully compatible.
