Imagine you’re taking a long road trip with your family and kids on the backseat are constantly asking “are we there yet?”. Or you drive an EV and the charging is taking forever. It would be nice to have a game to play in such times but there’s only so much you can do with a phone or a tablet. But what if we tell you that you can begin playing an XBox game on your car’s in-built screen? Thanks to Microsoft and LG, this will soon be possible.

Microsoft and LG have announced a new partnership to integrate Xbox Cloud Gaming directly into select internet-connected cars. This means that you will be able to stream games from your XBox directly to your car screen.
This collaboration leverages LG’s Automotive Content Platform (ACP), powered by the company’s webOS software, to enable passengers to stream and play a library of Xbox games directly on the car’s infotainment screens.
The service requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, a compatible Bluetooth controller, and an automotive data plan to stream games from the cloud. The system is designed to provide entertainment for passengers during long road trips or for drivers and passengers while the car is parked or charging, as is often the case with electric vehicles (EVs). All services operate in compliance with driving safety regulations, preventing gameplay while the car is in motion.
The Xbox app will be natively available on the LG webOS ACP for supported vehicles. This means users will not need to connect an external device; they can simply launch the app, log in, connect their controller, and start playing.
While this new feature is currently limited to select vehicles, such as certain Kia models in Europe, it marks a significant step in Microsoft’s strategy to make gaming more accessible. The company’s goal is to bring the Xbox ecosystem to a wide variety of devices, effectively turning anything with a screen and an internet connection into a potential Xbox.
