Garena has announced that Free Fire India (FFI) will be released in India on October 28 for Android and iPhone users. According to the game maker, FFI will offer multiplayer gameplay and get “locally relevant content and features”, including in-game events and campaigns inspired by India’s culture. To stay relevant in the current festive season, the game will offer a special Diwali campaign that will last until November 15. For the unaware, the game was banned in India in 2022 by the Central government alongside multiple other apps, citing national security and data security concerns.
However, the comeback is good news for Free Fire India players and here are the details that you should know.

Keeping accessibility in mind, Garena is promising optimisation for a wide range of mobiles offering different specifications. Free Fire India will also arrive with features to facilitate “healthy gaming habits” and “responsible” gameplay. This will include parental consent for children under the age of 18, reminders to take breaks, limits on in-game spending and playtime. The game is being launched after incorporating the feedback from the Indian government and hosting its data servers in the country, among other data protection measures.
Free Fire India will be available to download for free starting tomorrow. The mobile game will be available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Meanwhile, the game maker’s Free Fire MAX, which is already available in India, is a popular mobile gaming title offering multiplayer combat. Free Fire India will join this iteration.
According to the Play Store description, the survival action experience claims to have 10-min and 7-min multiplayer matches, hinting at time-bound missions. Players can create their own playable maps and choose from over 50 interactive objects. Plus, FFI will have 50 characters, customisable outfits and more.
Free Fire India is expected to have an initial download size of under 1 GB on Android. This may inflate to around 1.5GB-2 GB or more, depending on the additional modules the battle royale demands. However, readers should note that Garena has not confirmed the download size yet. Interested players can pre-register for the game right now.
