The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is officially confirmed to launch on November 14, 2025. Microsoft made the announcement during Opening Night Live at Gamescom, where the company unveiled a new cinematic trailer for the highly anticipated shooter. The game will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, but notably, it will not release on Nintendo’s Switch 2 at launch, a surprising omission given Microsoft’s binding agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty titles to its consoles in parity with Xbox.
Set 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6, the new instalment follows David Mason – portrayed by actor Milo Ventimiglia – and his squad of covert operatives. According to Activision, players will face “a manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above all else,” with the campaign promising a mind-bending narrative rooted in espionage and paranoia.
At launch, the game will feature 30 weapons across campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Sixteen of these are entirely new, while several classic fan favourites return. The Peacemaker MK1, M8A1, and PDW-57 (rebranded as the PUMA SMG) make a comeback from Black Ops 2, while the Rampart AR from Black Ops 4 reappears under the new name “Eagle.” Sniper fans will recognise the VS Recon, a modern reimagining of the DSR-50. This mix of legacy firepower and fresh additions will also carry over to Warzone following integration with the battle royale.
Zombies mode is once again set to be a major draw, with Treyarch teasing the largest map in franchise history. Comparable in scale to Black Ops II’s Tranzit, the new setting will let players traverse sprawling nodes using a drivable Wonder Vehicle. Classic Survival maps are also making their long-awaited return, while fan-favourite side mode Dead Ops Arcade will receive its fourth and largest iteration to date. Notably, alternate versions of the iconic quartet – Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey – will join forces with the Black Ops 6 crew to battle creatures emerging from the Dark Aether.
