Matias Myllyrinne of Remedy Entertainment gave a live demonstration of Alan Wake at the Microsoft’s press event. Before starting the demo, Myllyrinne is reported to have said that the game has been ready and in playable condition since May last year, and the team has spent all this time playing through the game and tweaking it.

Special attention has been given to striking a balance between action and exploration, control system and tweaking the dynamic camera angles. The developers hope that this will make the game’s set-pieces more immersive and combat more accessible. The game will cycle between day and night and while the day will be spent exploring and socializing, the darkness will build the tension. Remedy has also released a game-play trailer that introduces the game’s combat mechanics, enemies, characters and the plot.

The studio announced that the game’s Xbox 360 version will release on May 21 in PAL territories; while the PC version still appears to be in limbo.
