Sony has teased the launch of a new audio product, scheduled for January 21, 2026, and the message seems to be for users who want to stay aware of their surroundings while listening. The teaser video is currently on Sony’s YouTube channel with a countdown to the event. This may not be the much-anticipated WF-1000XM6 flagship earbuds. Rather, a tipster named Billbil-kun claims the product in question will be Sony LinkBuds Clip and here is what we know:
The YouTube video, titled ‘New Product Announcement’ on Sony’s official channel, carries the tagline ‘a new way of listening’. Sony’s emphasis on ‘listening’ without mentioning ‘noise cancellation’ aligns closely with its LinkBuds philosophy, which prioritises openness, comfort, and all-day wear over isolation.
Meanwhile, the WF-1000XM6 is expected to launch in February as a noise-cancelling flagship, unless the company has expedited its schedule.

Tipster Billbil-kun via website DealLabs has shared the following specs and features of the LinkBuds Clip:
According to information obtained ahead of the launch, Sony is expected to unveil the LinkBuds Clip, carrying the model number WF-LC900. This would mark Sony’s first clip-style true wireless earbuds and a new design direction for the LinkBuds family.
The LinkBuds Clip are said to be open-ear earbuds designed to let ambient sound pass through naturally. Instead of sealing the ear canal, they use an ear hook or clip-style fit that rests outside the ear, allowing users to remain aware of traffic, conversations, and surroundings. This design is increasingly popular among commuters, office users, and fitness-focused buyers who prioritise awareness and comfort over immersive audio.
If true, it could take on products like the Huawei FreeClip and JBL Soundgear Clip. And so, the LinkBuds lineup could offer a different wearable form factor than the ring-style LinkBuds Open earbuds.
Finally, the leaked Sony LinkBuds Clip specifications and features are below:
Let’s see how well this device integrates Sony’s strengths in call quality, spatial audio, and ecosystem benefits.
We will have more concrete details on January 21, 2026. So, till then, take the above shared details with a pinch of salt.
