Sony India has brought a new standstone finish to its flagship wireless headphones, the WH-1000XM6 (review). The new colour is available in India starting June 4 and carries the same price tag of Rs 39990 as the other finishes. While the prospective buyers get a new colour choice with this refresh, two of Sony’s tentpole products, the WF-1000XM6 true wireless earbuds and the anniversary-edition 1000X The Collexion headphones, still remain unavailable in the country.
Let’s first check what the new release offers
Sony says the WH-1000XM6 Sandstone variant is available through select Sony Centre stores, Sony’s online store, Amazon, Croma, and Reliance Digital outlets.
So, Sandstone finish joins the existing Black, Platinum Silver, Midnight Blue and SandPink colour options.
Sony says the options will offer users an expressive design.

Rest, the Sandstone edition is identical to the standard WH-1000XM6 in terms of hardware and features. Here are its key specifications:
Sony claims the QN3 processor is 7x faster than the processor used in the previous generation and works with 12 microphones for real-time noise cancellation adjustments.
Now that it’s covered, let’s get to the ones not here yet.
The WF-1000XM6 is Sony’s latest flagship true wireless earbuds that bring upgrades to active noise cancellation, call quality, comfort, and battery efficiency over the WF-1000XM5. The company has also improved fit and audio processing.
Meanwhile, the 1000X The Collexion is launched on the 10th anniversary of Sony’s 1000X series. It sits above the WH-1000XM6 in the company’s portfolio and features a redesigned premium chassis with luxury-based material and upgraded audio tuning.
Sony has not officially confirmed India launch plans for either product.
Meanwhile, here’s the company’s launch timelines for its premium 1000X series earphones and headphones so far:
| Product | Global launch | India launch |
|---|---|---|
| WF-1000XM4 | June 2021 | January 2022 |
| WF-1000XM5 | July 2023 | September 2023 |
| WH-1000XM5 | May 2022 | September 2022 |
| WH-1000XM6 | May 2025 | September 2025 |
| WF-1000XM6 | Feb 2026 | NA |
| WH-1000XX The Collexion | May 2026 | NA |
So, as you can see historically, Sony has taken anywhere from two to seven months to bring flagship audio products to India. By that pattern, an announcement in the coming months would still fit.
What happens next is difficult to predict as there has been no rumour or hint from the brand yet. But let’s see.
