Sonos’ next portable speaker, reportedly called the Sonos Play, surfaced early on a Canadian Best Buy listing (but now taken down). The yet-to-be-announced model appears to be aimed at mainstream buyers who want a mid-range portable speaker within the Sonos ecosystem. According to this product page on Best Buy Canada, the Sonos Play resembles a slightly smaller version of the Sonos Move 2, complete with a rear loop for carrying. Even though the listing can’t be accessed anymore, screenshots shared online reveal key specifications and feature claims.
The listing shows a price of CAD 399.99 (about Rs 27,000) and a release date of March 31 2026. What makes it notable is its positioning between the Move 2 and Roam 2, while borrowing features from both.
It could be available in white or black.

It will be a portable speaker with Wi-Fi support that lets you connect up to 32 Sonos speakers in a multi-room setup. For connectivity, you also get Bluetooth 5.3, Apple AirPlay 2, and USB-C auxiliary input support. So, like the Move 2, the Play could also be used for wired audio and allow users to connect a Vinyl turntable or other audio equipment directly.
The listing also mentions Sonos Trueplay, the company’s automatic sound tuning technology that adjusts output based on the listening environment. If accurate, this would mean the Play dynamically optimises audio whether used indoors or outdoors.
The speaker is rated to run up to 24 hours. You will be able to charge it wirelessly. A wireless charger appears to be included in the box. Additionally, you can use it as a USB-C power bank.
Meanwhile, it is IP67-graded for water and dust resistance, which is an improved rating than Move 2’s IP56. This matches the Sonos Roam’s IP67 rating.
So, from the looks of it, the Sonos Play could be placed between the Sonos Move 2 and Sonos Roam 2 in the company’s current portable lineup. Let’s see.
If the 31 March 2026 date is accurate, an official announcement is likely imminent. If you are looking for a portable speaker purchase, you may wait.
