If you’re participating in the blackout but still want to enjoy your favourite PS5 games without breaking the boycott, we have a solution. You can play your favourite PlayStation games on your smartphone. This is not just a solution for the current blackout but rather a solution to all the times you want to carry your gaming console with you so that you can enjoy the gaming on the go. Here’s a detailed article on how you can enjoy the PS5 games on your smartphone.

Things to know

Before I teach you how you can play PS5 games on your smartphone, there are some things that you should keep in mind:

  • The emulator works on both Android and iOS devices.
  • Smartphones from the affordable and mid-segments may run the OS5 games, but your gaming experience will majorly depend on the specs of your smartphone.
  • You need a stable internet connection while using the app.

How to set up PPSSPP app on your smartphone

To play the PS5 games on your smartphone, you’ll be required to install the PPSSPP emulator on your Android or iOS device. Do note that the emulator is available on both the Play Store and the App Store. Now, while you set up the app, you’ll be asked to create a folder. I’ll recommend you name it ‘PS games’ so that you don’t accidentally delete it some day.

You’ll have to store your game files in this folder in .iso or .cso format. Make sure that if the games are compressed in a .zip file, then you need to extract them before you can play them on your device. To extract the files, you can use the app called ZArchiver.

Note: Give all the necessary permissions when asked.

How to install and play PS5 games on your smartphone

You can’t just simply open the PPSSPP app and enjoy the games, as it’s not shipped with pre-loaded games. You have to download the game files individually. To do so, you can simply search for ‘the name of the game you want to play PPSSPP game file’ on Google and download the ZIP file.

Now, move the ZIP file to the game folder you created previously. Extract the ZIP file in the folder itself using the ZArchive app. Now, launch the PPSSPP app and press the Browse button to choose the game file. The PPSSPP may take some time to load the game. Once done, you can simply tap on the game icon and play the game.

Note: Make sure you download game files only from sources where you have the legal right to use them.
