Along with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Fold 8, Samsung has also introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at Unpacked 2026. Like the other two, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 also got some decent upgrades, including the form factor, performance, and AI features. It retains the familiar design language but introduces a lighter body, a newer Exynos chipset, Android 17, and Galaxy AI. At first glance, both devices feel quite similar, but Samsung has managed to trim down the newer model. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 measures 75.4 x 85.7 x 13.1mm when folded and 75.4 x 166.9 x 6.1mm when unfolded. At 180 grams, it is Samsung’s lightest and thinnest Flip phone to date. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 weighs 188 grams and measures 166.7 x 75.2 x 6.5mm when unfolded. It uses Samsung’s Armor Aluminum frame along with the Armor FlexHinge.
Both smartphones come with an IP48 rating for water resistance. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be available in Graphite, Cream and Pink, while Mint remains exclusive to Samsung’s online store. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes in Blue Shadow, Coral Red, Jetblack and Mint.
Samsung has retained the display sizes across generations. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels, 400ppi pixel density and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The device comes with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 948 x 1048 pixels and supports both 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rates.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also offers a 6.9-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification and peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The outer 4.1-inch Super AMOLED supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 processor and is paired with 12GB RAM alongside either 256GB or 512GB of storage. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 runs on the Exynos 2500 chipset in several regions. It also offers 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, although select regions have an 8GB RAM variant.
The camera setup of both devices looks almost similar. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 features a 50MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and 2x optical-quality zoom, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide camera offering a 123-degree field of view. Selfies are handled by a 10MP front-facing camera. It focuses on software improvements with Flex Mode, Camcorder Grip featuring a dedicated zoom rocker, Super Steady video enhanced by a new Horizontal Lock option, and FlipShot for mirror-style selfies.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also comes with a 50MP main camera with 12MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, there is a 10MP selfie camera. In terms of software, the device comes with AI FlexCam with Auto Zoom, cover-screen preview filters and Nightography video.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 comes with 4,300mAh dual-cell battery and supports 25W wired charging. It also supports 15W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers the same 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 ships with Android 17 and One UI 9 out of the box. Samsung has offered the FlexWindow as an AI-first interface, bringing features such as Now Brief directly to the cover display along with Gemini Intelligence automation that can be activated through voice commands or the side key. Connectivity options include 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 currently runs One UI 8 based on Android 16, and Samsung has committed up to seven major Android OS upgrades. It includes Galaxy AI features such as contextual recommendations, personalised insights and AI-powered filters directly on the FlexWindow. Connectivity includes 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
Samsung has not yet announced the India pricing for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The smartphone is expected to arrive in 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage variants. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, meanwhile, launched in India with 12GB RAM paired with 256GB and 512GB storage options, while select markets also received an 8GB RAM variant.
