The thought of having a new phone is always exciting, but let’s be honest — upgrading a phone after two or three years usually means choosing what to compromise on. For instance, your new phone can have a faster processor but a weaker battery. A bigger battery, on the other hand, may not always translate into a phone that stays smooth over time. Or maybe your phone will have a better camera, but you may be giving up on the display in the process.
Enter the OPPO K14 Plus, a smartphone that takes a different yet practical approach, bringing performance, display, camera, endurance, and durability together around one idea: Powered to Perform, Built to Last. If your phone is beginning to show its age and you are considering an upgrade, the K14 Plus is designed to make the everyday experience feel better now, while retaining its usefulness for years to come. OPPO has put considerable emphasis on all these aspects, and the result is a smartphone that deserves attention from buyers looking for a well-rounded upgrade.
Here’s everything you need to know about the OPPO K14 Plus and why it could be worth considering under Rs 35,000.
At its core, the OPPO K14 Plus features the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 MAX, a 4nm octa-core chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. OPPO quotes an AnTuTu score of more than 1 million, and true to the company’s word, we can confirm this claim. But beyond the synthetic benchmark score, the more interesting part of the performance is what happens when you actually use the device.
The OPPO K14 Plus uses a 5,000mm² Glacier Vapour Chamber, backed by a 19,989mm² graphite spread, to manage heat during sustained workloads. Trust us when we say — we threw long video calls, gaming, video recording, GPS navigation, and so much more at the K14 Plus. This phone not only manages consistent performance across workloads, but also maintains it over longer sustained periods. For supported gaming scenarios, AI GameBoost 3.0 also helps optimise performance, touch responsiveness, and power consumption.
The hardware on offer comes in 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB configurations, with up to 16GB of RAM expansion on the 8GB variants. That gives the phone room for general multitasking, app switching, and storing your photos, videos, and apps. There is enough flexibility here for users with different needs, although the right configuration will depend on how much storage you expect to use over the next few years.
The display adds another major part to the experience. The 6.78-inch AMOLED panel has a 1.5K (1272×2772) resolution, 450 PPI, 10-bit colour depth and support for 1.07 billion colours. It covers 93.6 per cent of the front, while its adaptive 144Hz refresh rate can switch between 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz and 144Hz depending on the content. Touch sampling goes up to 240Hz. The adaptive refresh system can step down when 144Hz is unnecessary, helping balance the fluidity of high-refresh content with power efficiency.
For outdoor use, OPPO quotes 3,600 nits peak brightness, while 1,800 nits is the relevant figure for High Brightness Mode. We put this claim to the test in the Digit Test Labs and measured around 1,850 nits in HBM. What does that mean in the real world? Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, checking a WhatsApp message or watching a movie on Netflix, screen brightness shouldn’t be something you need to worry about. The display also delivers punchy colours, deep blacks and excellent contrast, making it a great screen to look at.
The display also uses 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming at low brightness. In simple terms, this is designed to make display flickering less noticeable when you’re using the phone at night or in a dark room, which could be useful for people who are sensitive to screen flicker.
And that’s what you notice when using the K14 Plus day-to-day. It feels smooth and responsive, even when you’ve been using it for a while, which is where the Dimensity 7360 MAX and the large vapour chamber make a big difference.
I spent a lot of time with the cameras on the OPPO K14 Plus. The main lens is a 50MP 1/2-inch sensor with OIS, and the results it produces are quite convincing in good light.
Photos have plenty of detail, colours look punchy without becoming too unnatural, and highlights are handled well. As the light starts to fall, the OIS also comes into play, helping keep handheld shots steadier.
Looking through the photos I took with the K14 Plus, what stood out to me was how little effort it took to get a good-looking shot. I could pull the phone out, point it at something, and shoot without having to worry about exposure or colours going completely off. That becomes especially useful when you’re photographing people in mixed lighting. OPPO has added India-focused skin-tone tuning here, which sounds like a very technical feature on paper, but it comes in pretty handy when you’re taking a group photo and the lighting isn’t particularly kind. Faces shouldn’t suddenly look too warm or washed out just because you’re standing under different light sources.
Night photography gets its own set of processing tools. The K14 Plus uses AI Night Mode with OPPO’s Raw Super Night algorithm, while Turbo RAW multi-frame processing works on dynamic range and highlights. I found this approach more useful than simply making every dark scene look artificially bright. The aim is to retain detail while keeping the image looking like a photo taken at night.
In terms of video recording, the rear camera can shoot in 4K at 30fps, while 1080p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps let you play around with slow-motion footage. There is also Dual-View recording, which lets the front and rear cameras record at the same time. I can see a lot of people using that while travelling, especially when they want to capture what they’re seeing while also keeping themselves in the frame. The phone also supports 4K Ultra-Steady video in supported scenarios.
The 16MP Sony IMX480 front camera is another solid addition. When you’re taking selfies in low light, the display can work as a soft key light, which is actually more useful than having another portrait effect that you probably won’t use. There are a few other creative tools here too, including AI Portrait Glow, AI Popout 2.0 and AI Remix Collage. AI Recompose and AI Eraser add further options for reframing and editing images, while Motion Photos and in-sensor zoom provide additional ways to capture and work with your shots.
Another interesting addition is the underwater photography mode, which is designed for supported freshwater conditions. It comes with a dedicated underwater colour profile and an auto-drainage routine. As with any water-related feature, the phone should be used only within the specified conditions, and its water-resistance ratings should not be treated as a guarantee against all types of water damage.
Overall, I wouldn’t call the OPPO K14 Plus a camera phone in the traditional sense, and I don’t think it needs to be. The camera is at its best when you simply want to take a photo and get something you can actually use. The combination of OIS, 4K recording, and useful AI tools makes it a dependable everyday camera setup.
The 8,000mAh battery is one of the biggest highlights of the OPPO K14 Plus. I could use the phone through the day without worrying too much about charging. OPPO quotes up to 2.95 days of typical mixed use, with lab figures claiming up to 20.97 hours of YouTube playback, 15.03 hours of Instagram Reels and 14.39 hours of Maps navigation. More importantly, the battery is engineered to retain over 80 per cent of its original capacity after 1,800 full charge cycles, equivalent to around six years of use under specified conditions. For me, that makes the battery story about more than just endurance on day one; it is also about how well it holds up over time.
Charging is handled by 45W SUPERVOOC, with OPPO claiming a five-minute charge from 1 to 8 per cent and a 30-minute charge to 36 per cent. A full charge takes around 101 minutes under its test conditions. There is also 10W reverse wired charging for compatible accessories, while Bypass Charging is available during supported usage scenarios, including gaming.
Then there’s the software side. OPPO’s 6-Year Smoothness Protection uses ageing technology to simulate extended use, with the six-year protection applying to the 8GB+256GB variant and up to five years for the 128GB variants. Features such as the Luminous Rendering Engine, Trinity Engine with Parallel Loading and Adaptive Scheduling Architecture, along with Smoothness Boost OTA updates and Extended Use Care 2.0, are designed to support long-term responsiveness. You can’t judge six years of use from a few weeks of testing, but I like that the K14 Plus focuses not just on lasting longer between charges, but also on maintaining its battery health and smoothness over the years.
With the heavy-hitting highlights such as the camera, performance, display, and software out of the way, I would also like to touch upon the less glamorous parts of owning a phone for years. With the K14 Plus, OPPO has put considerable effort into these areas too.
For starters, there’s IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 protection. The phone has also been SGS-tested to ISO 20653:2023. In practical terms, these ratings cover different levels of protection against dust and water exposure, including submersion and powerful water jets under specified test conditions. They don’t make the phone completely waterproof, so it’s still worth exercising caution around water.
Then there’s the frame. OPPO uses AM04 aerospace-grade aluminium alloy for the K14 Plus’s frame and mainboard cover, and says it has passed 1,000 bend cycles in testing. The phone’s Damage-Proof 360° Armour Body also incorporates structural collision beams, airbag-style cushioning and reinforced construction. These elements are designed to help the phone cope better with the knocks and stresses of everyday use.
I also like what OPPO has done with the front of the phone. Thanks to the slim bezels, which measure just 1.66mm at the top, 1.65mm on the sides and 1.90mm at the bottom, the OPPO K14 Plus has a 93.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio, giving the display a modern, edge-to-edge look. There’s an in-display optical fingerprint sensor too, which feels more natural to use than having the scanner stuck on the side.
Finally, there’s the 5,000mm² Glacier Vapour Chamber inside. I wouldn’t call this a durability feature on its own, but it fits neatly into the larger idea behind the K14 Plus. OPPO hasn’t just added a big battery or a powerful chip and called it a day. The cooling system is there to help the K14 Plus maintain performance during longer periods of use, while the physical construction is designed to cope with the wear that comes with keeping a phone for longer.
The OPPO K14 Plus runs ColorOS 16, which brings together system optimisation, AI-powered features and connected experiences. The Luminous Rendering Engine, Trinity Engine and Adaptive Scheduling Architecture work together to support a smoother experience, while Parallel Loading helps prepare apps in the background. OPPO says its Adaptive Scheduling Architecture contributes to up to a 15 per cent improvement in overall smoothness based on its lab testing.
ColorOS 16 also brings features such as AI Ultra-Clear Documents and AI editing tools. O+ Connect supports convenient file transfers between OPPO smartphones and iPhones, while AI LinkBoost 4.0 is designed to improve connectivity during activities such as streaming, gaming, and video calls. Security-focused features such as AI Call Guard and One-Tap Security Guard add further support in compatible scenarios.
Extended Use Care 2.0 includes tools such as Smart System Maintenance, Deep Phone Care and a System Smoothness Report to help users monitor and maintain the device over time. These features complement OPPO’s long-term smoothness proposition, although the actual experience will naturally depend on usage, apps, and future software updates.
After using the OPPO K14 Plus, I think its biggest strength is that it doesn’t force you to compromise on one thing to get another. You get a capable chipset, a very good 1.5K AMOLED display, a camera setup that I was comfortable using every day, and an 8,000mAh battery that takes away a lot of the usual battery anxiety. Then there are the durability features and the promise of keeping the phone running smoothly for years. That’s what makes the K14 Plus enticing to me.
If you’re upgrading from a phone that’s two or three years old, you get improvements in the things you’re likely to notice every day: the screen, cameras, battery, and overall responsiveness. The additional focus on battery health, software smoothness, and physical durability also makes the phone worth considering if you prefer to keep your devices for longer rather than replace them every couple of years.
The OPPO K14 Plus is available on Flipkart and the OPPO India e-store. Pricing starts at ₹30,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant, while the 8GB+128GB model costs ₹34,999. The top-end 8GB+256GB variant is priced at ₹38,999.
For buyers with a budget of under Rs 35,000, the 8GB+128GB variant is the one to consider. It combines the Dimensity 7360 MAX, 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display, 50MP OIS camera, 8,000mAh battery, and robust durability features at a price that fits the segment. If long battery life, a smooth display, and dependable everyday performance matter more to you than chasing a single standout specification, the OPPO K14 Plus makes a compelling case as a well-rounded upgrade under Rs 35,000.
