Don’t want Liquid Glass on iOS 26? Here is how to turn it off

Updated on 22-Oct-2025

When Apple dropped iOS 26 with the new Liquid Glass theme, it instantly split the room. Like always, there were people who loved it, and then there were people who didn’t find this new update very appealing. Some people called it futuristic, others said it’s just fancy blur gone too far. Personally, I liked how it made the screen feel alive, reflections shifting, and icons floating like they’re behind real glass. But, sometimes you end up squinting just to find an app, or a basic button in one of Apple’s app. For example, moving through the Home page, Library, and Search bar on Apple Music can be a little confusing. That’s probably why Apple’s already fine-tuning it. With the upcoming iOS 26.1, there’s a new toggle that lets you tint the glass. Basically, it makes the interface less transparent, a little more solid, a little easier on the eyes, somewhat like iOS 18.

How to turn off Liquid Glass on iOS 26?

If you want to turn of Liquid Glass theme on your iPhone, here’s how you can do it. Find it under Settings > Display and Brightness > Liquid Glass, and you can switch between ‘Clear’ and ‘Tinted’ depending on your vibe.

How to download iOS 26 Public Beta?

For other Apple products, the same feature is coming to iPad, Mac, and probably even the Apple Watch. Now, iOS 26.1 might take a few days to roll out, but if you’re impatient (like me), you can already test this through the iOS 26.1 public beta. Just head to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and choose iOS 26 Public Beta.

I think this new look is one of Apple’s boldest visual changes in years. Yes, it does seem that it’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely not boring. But still, if you don’t like it, you can follow the steps mentioned above, and thank me later!
